Tea Tree Oil – Australia’s “First Aid kit in a bottle”
In Australia Tea Tree Oil has been used for centuries as a natural antiseptic, antifungal and disinfectant.
From aborigines using to heal cuts and wounds to Australian soldiers during WW2 to treat infections, wounds and tinea (athletes foot ) and tropical ulcers where Tea Tree first earned the nickname of being a “first aid in a bottle”.
Tea Tree Oil is now widely used in Australia and has many practical uses around the home including:
Laundry
Add a few drops of Tea Tree Oil to the rinse cycle of your washing to help disinfect and freshen.
Remove Mould & Mildew
Remove mould and prevent mildew, use a capful of Tea Tree Oil with 200mL of white vinegar into a spray bottle. Shake well before each use. Spray on problem areas and leave.
Toilets & Drains
Freshen and disinfect toilets and drains, add one capful of Tea Tree Oil. Will helps kill germs and remove unwanted bacteria.
Rubbish Bins
Wash and deodorise rubbish bins by using one capful of Tea Tree Oil and warm water with a few drops of detergent.
Pimples and Acne
Tea Tree Oil can help control and heal pimples by killing the bacteria which cause inflammation. Wash area well, then dab directly onto pimples.
Insect Bites and Stings
Apply Tea Tree Oil directly onto the bite to ease the pain and itching of mosquito and other insect bites. Do not rub in.
Dandruff and Head Lice
Add 10 drops of Tea Tree Oil to shampoo to help soothe an itchy, flaky scalp. Add 10 drops of Tea Tree Oil to conditioner and comb through with a fine tooth comb to help remove head lice.
Minor Cuts and Abrasions
Dab gently with cotton wool soaked in Tea Tree Oil.
Minor Burns including Sunburn
Cool area with cold water then apply a few drops of Tea Tree Oil added to a natural moisturising lotion like Aloe Vera to help soothe and heal.
Skin irritations and Rashes
Soothe by applying a few drops of Tea Tree Oil added to a natural lotion or carrier oil such as olive or grapeseed oil. Massage into affected area daily.
Foot and Shoe Odour
To help eliminate foot odour, bathe feet in one capful of Tea Tree Oil and warm water. Sprinkle Tea Tree oil in shoes to freshen and eliminate odours.
Tinea and other Fungal Infections
Wash and dry feet thoroughly then apply tea tree oil directly in between toes or on the affected area to help kill bacteria and heal.
Pets
Cleaning, deodorise and disinfect pets quarters, use a capful of oil to wash bucket to help remove unwanted bacteria and odours.
